Blessing of the SWS offices and classrooms.
Father Richard recently visited our school for an all school prayer service before he went to each room to bless the doors and chalk them with a special message-- 20 + C + M + B + 18
2018 represents the year and the C, M, & B represent the 3 Magi-Caspar, Melchior, & Balthazar. The initials also mean, in Latin, Christus mansionem benedicat: “May Christ bless the house.”
Why do we bless the doors?
"In Deuteronomy 6:9 God tells the people of Israel: “These words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house… You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.” (Building Faith Editors). In other words, chalking the door is an outward sign of showing our faith and love for God.
