Congratulations to Father Gron for winning the Heart of the Shepherd award. Dr. Rigg, Superintendent of Archdiocese of Catholic Schools, and Dr. Kari King, Regional Director for Vicariate IV Schools, presented Father Gron with this special award, that was rewarded to only three Chicago Archdiocesan priests.
Sixth grade students did a wonderful reading the Reading of the Day, Responsorial Psalm and Prayers of the Faithful, and serving as gift bearers and altar servers. Great job, 6th grade! I'm one blessed teacher to be able to work with such outstanding students and their families.
Welcome to the 6th grade info page. Here you'll find information about SWS and happenings in our classroom and around SWS.

5th Grade Social Studies
Jig-Saw Notes
Students worked in groups to complete one aspect of the chapter notes. Then students worked with members from other groups to discuss and share the notes. Basically, jig-saw notes are small pieces of notes that are put together to make one complete picture.Saturday, May 18, 2019
Novel Study
Part of the joy of teaching how to read a book on a deeper level is becoming part of the book. While reading The Giver, by Lois Lowry, 6th grade students are taking on roles of Assignments or jobs that are in the Community. Our Recreation Directors and Committee Members have been planning, organizing, and running a game for our Recreation Time. It has been fun watching the students get into this novel and taking on leadership roles.
Here are a couple of photos and a short video of the Recreation team running a game of animal tag.
